all's red that ends red...

I really like those Budweiser radio commercials... 'Real American Heroes...' They have been on forever and I still cannot but stop and listen, see if it is one haven't heard before. Well today one came on and I had a bit of an idea: they need to do a series of beer commercials saluting real Communist heroes. Budweiser could salute:

Mr. Peoples' Manifesto Writer
Mr. Guerrilla Revolutionary Ammo Carrier
Mr. Deputy Undersecretary for the Manufacture of Lightbulbs
Mr. Tiananmen Square Tank Commander.

I don't know. Just think there are all those nameless, faceless masses out there who will never get their just due on commercial radio. It is an injustice. Kind of makes you want go on strike or something.

From the stories I heard, how about Mr. Deputy from What Will We Ban Next Committee?

Tim - Yeah... I'll bet if we googled it someone has to have done that!

Mr. Mancus - Yeah, the Mr.'s are good company. It has been a long time since remember really being moved by music, but McDowell and Hopkins have been striking a chord. Have you wandered into the land of the blues, lately? Beware: Muse is addictive.
And Sara...

Z - Seriously. Quid pro quo and tit for tat. Chinese governmental logic is a trip, but it is an interesting one to take. We should recommend such a position at the next Party Convention. As long as someone has a nephew who needs a position...

The sad thing is, those people are capable of so much more. That's why I'm so anti-communism. It suppresses good minds.

I don't know if you met Dave's co-worker G. G had a lot of interesting stories of working with actual communists - Russians before the Soviet Union fell. Good people, but no incentive to work hard. The Mr. Deputy from What Will We Ban Next Committee came directly from one of his stories.

Z - Yeah... Czeslaw Milosz wrote an interesting book where he sort of looks at some of the people he knew quite intimately, close friends and colleagues in Communist Poland. Wild to see how their communism wove and unwove their paths, how different folk responded and made lives for themselves in the system.

Would like to hear that story sometime.

How about "Mrs. Heroic Communist Mother"?

Ceausescu had a program that rewarded mothers who bore several children. Five kids meant significant tax benefits, but the mother who bore ten children was rewarded with the designation of "Heroic Mother." They received a gold medal, a free ARO 4x4 car, free transportation on trains, and a free holiday travel each year to a resort. Oh, and extra butter too.

We have a close friend here in Romania whose mom was a "hero." She has some funny (and some sad) stories to tell.

Andrew - Heh. My wife must have a Lazy or Loser tag because she only bred once. I'd love to hear more of those communist stories. Every story I hear, makes me appreciate what we have here even more.
